camerino 4

Camerino 4 is a contemporary dance company defined by its exploration and research on the language of movement, dramaturgy and composition. Founded in 2000 by its artistic director, the choreographer Magdalena Brezzo, the company boasts over 20 choreographic productions staged in various formats.

The company’s staging displays the humour, contradictions and poetics of the Mexican symbolic world. Indeed, the works created by the company speak of our identity, our times and concerns and of what we are.

Company Camerino 4 directs its search towards the conception of its own discourse though without getting stagnant in the purely formal. It propounds a stage art wherein dance and the language of other art disciplines—film, theatre, visual and fine arts—fuse into one. This creative modality is evident on the dramatic structure of the works and can be perceived on their particular emotional atmosphere plus gets markedly displayed through the editing structure as well.

Hence, after 8 years of noted achievement, Camerino 4 has attained a distinguished place within the contemporary dance realm in Mexico.

To date the company has been three times and for three different works the recipient of the National Award for Dance, the most prestigious award to choreography in Mexico, and has been granted the Public’s Award.
